ACCOMMODATION VENUE OF THE YEAR - METRO the tasman, a luxury collection hotel hobart

Getting to the top is one thing – staying there is often another. Yet for The Tasman, the accolades show no signs of slowing down any time soon. Earlier this year the Luxury Collection property was one of just two Australian hotels named in the world’s top 50 list, adding to previous recognition by the likes of Conde Nast Travel magazine. The Tasman capped a three peat of Metro Accommodation Venue of the Year titles at the THA Awards, and – somewhat unsurprisingly – couldn’t be split with Saffire Freycinet as the state’s Best Deluxe Accommodation offering. Throw in Peppina’s four gongs and Mary Mary taking home the Best Bar Experience crown, and The Tasman’s 2024 has been nothing short of outstanding. “It feels amazing, but it is the contribution of the team that drives us to provide the exceptional service that we do, that allows us the opportunity to win these awards,” general manager Stephen Morahan said.
“It always makes me proud that they hotel has been embraced by not only the people who work at the hotel but the locals who use it.
“This is an award for Hobart and the state as much as it is for us as a hotel.
“It was always our motivation to make sure we were part of a destination.”

Another Regional Accommodation Venue of the Year title was awarded to the property in 2024, along with the split points decision in the Best Deluxe Accommodation category. This remarkable achievement underscores the exceptional dedication and hard work of the Saffire team. “It’s pretty special, it’s always nice to come and celebrate the awards for the team who work tirelessly every day, week in, week out,” said Michael Elmes, Saffire’s assistant general manager. His words resonate with the spirit of Saffire, where each member plays a vital role in creating memorable experiences for their guests. “The team are really proud of what they do; every day they show up and do their best, and they really enjoy what we try to deliver to our guests, which is a bit of Taste of Tasmania. It just shows every day the work they do and the feedback we get from our guests.”
