Specialty-painted walls, topped with a striking Cascade green upper support and ceiling, dramatically transform the space—linking visitors to the surrounding gardens and the distant bush vistas of kunyanyi / Mt Wellington. The two-toned scheme ties the fit-out to the panelling support found in the heritage main house, while a regency-style panelled ceiling has been added to the contemporary spaces, deepening the connection to the building’s historic character. Antique furniture and lighting are combined with custom contemporary pieces and joinery, using raw, utilitarian materials. A large U-shaped bar serves as an anchor point within the fit-out, enriched with brass and detailed panelling. Patrons can now enjoy expansive views of the brewery, the gardens, and the stunning mountain beyond.

To celebrate 200 years, Cascade brewery workers and team members, politicians, and industry and business leaders gathered at the Cascade Brewery earlier this year, to toast two centuries of endurance, innovation and the spirit of Tasmania. We were honoured in particular to welcome the Tasmanian Premier, Jeremy Rockliff MP, Atsuki Katsuki, Global President and CEO of Asahi Group Holdings, and Amanda Sellers, Group CEO of Asahi Beverages. Cascade has also shouted a free beer for the first 200 people at different Tasmanian pubs on the first Friday of the month in 2024. It’s been a huge success and has a couple of months to go! We’ve also released commemorative Cascade Draught 375mL cans emblazoned with the words “Standing proud for 200 years”. These collectors’ items will be on-sale until the end of the year. The Cascade Brewery is more than just a business: it’s a site for the entire Hobart community to use whether for a beer, a bushwalk or as a place of reflection. We take our role as site custodians seriously and are thankful for the community’s support.
