Mures 50th Anniversary INDUSTRY FEATURE

Mures Tasmania has celebrated its 50th anniversary with the launch of a new venue Kelp Bar, and the official reopening of its Upper Deck restaurant on Victoria Dock in Hobart . Spanning six months, Mures underwent extensive renovations to improve access to the Upper Deck restaurant and upgrade the dining areas, investing over $3 million dollars to transform the space into a more contemporary venue. The project encompassed the development of a new main entrance to the Upper Deck with an enclosed staircase and lift, a full restaurant refurbishment, kitchen upgrades, and the introduction of a new private dining room overlooking Victoria Dock that offers audio and visual capabilities for functions and events. The renovation also included the introduction of a new venue, Kelp Bar. This bar offers signature cocktails, local beers, ciders, wines and spirits, along with a small international selection of beverages and a small bar menu featuring Tasmanian seafood. Kelp Bar is outfitted for both indoor and outdoor seating, with views of Constitution Dock, Hobart city and kunanyi/ Mt. Wellington.

Achieved through collaboration with renovation partners Architect Mark Drury, Fairbrother Construction, and TasPorts, it is the most significant single financial investment the business has made and marks 50 years of Mures evolution as a Hobart hospitality venue. The grand re-opening on Wednesday October 16, saw both Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff in attendance, alongside a number of other familiar Tasmanian faces.
