Applying for a liquor licence
Applicants are encouraged to read the information available on the Liquor and Gaming website prior to applying. The website provides detailed information about the application and assessment process and sets out common mistakes made in applications. If a complete application is provided, the Branch aims to assess the application and advise of the outcome within 4 - 6 weeks. However, if all supporting documents are not lodged with the application form or additional information is needed, it will take longer to assess the application.
EFTPOS in gambling venues
If a gambling venue offer EFTPOS cash withdrawal facilities, it must have a system in place that records these transactions, to prevent multiple EFTPOS cash withdrawal transactions by the same patron on the same day, within the venue. The record must include the date and time of the transaction, be retained at the venue for at least 30 days after the last transaction recorded and be produced to an inspector on request. If venue staff discover that a customer obtains more than one EFTPOS cash withdrawal at the venue on the same day, this must be reported to the Commission within 24 hours.
Licensees holding copies of RSA certificates
All licensees are required to hold a copy of their RSA certificate, and RSA certificates for staff who are involved in the sale and service of liquor. To comply with section 46A of the Liquor Licensing Act 1990, and the notice issued by the Commissioner, the licensee must hold a copy of all RSA certificates on the licenced premises. It may be beneficial to ensure that managers or key employees know where the RSA certificates are kept on the premises, in the event of inspectors or police attending when the licensee is absent.
