DOORS RE-OPEN ACROSS THE PLUMBING & HEATING INDUSTRY AS LOCKDOWN RESTRICTIONS EASE (SLIGHTLY)... Open for business

I t might be stretching it a bit to say things are returning to normal, but May 18 was still a significant day. It marked the re- opening of many trade counters across the island of Ireland. Maybe not normal service resumed, but a ‘new normal’, complete with enhanced safety precautions, social distancing and an emphasis on pre-booking. There have been variations in the approach to re-opening, but a common goal - to kick- start the plumbing and heating industry, to respect the dangers inherent in COVID-19, but not to let the pandemic undo the good work of generations. Here is a selection of well-known companies who are once again back in business:

HEAT MERCHANTS GROUP Heat Merchants 32 branches are now open for the collection of pre-ordered goods and to take delivery orders. Trade counters are open from 8am - 3.30pm, Monday to Friday. Customers are encouraged to pre-order for collection and delivery to avoid waiting, and to adhere to all social distancing guidelines. www.heatmerchants.ie BASSETTS Bassetts has been providing a limited collection service to plumbers’ merchants throughout the COVID-19 crisis. Whilst staying committed to stopping the spread of the Coronavirus, the company has now staffed

IRISH PIPELINE COMPONENTS (IPC) Based at Rathcoole, Dublin, IPC returned to their normal opening hours of Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm. Collections will take place from outside the store, with calling in advance recommended. Once again up to full-strength, the request to order the night before no longer applies. Just call, text, email or Whatsapp when you’re en route and the order will be ready on arrival.
