5) Align Roles with Purpose A ship at sea is lost without a clear destination, and the same is true for employees who do not feel a sense of purpose in their roles. If an employee cannot give a clear and genuine an- swer to the question, “What is your purpose in this organization?” then you are doing something wrong. Employ- ees who feel adrift and disengaged will struggle to find motivation, ultimately leading to lower engagement and pro- ductivity, higher turnover, and a dimin- ished workplace culture. Aligning roles with purpose helps each team member recognize the value and impact of their work. It fosters a sense of meaning and pride in what they do. And when someone is proud of what they do, they bring a level of enthusi- asm that uplifts the entire team. Pride fuels engagement, resilience, and a commitment to excellence, motivating employees to go above and beyond.
As a leader, it is your responsibility to ensure that each role connects to the organization’s greater mission.
