Royal North Shore Hospital was established in 1885 and is a major teaching hospital and trauma centre in NSW. The hospital cares for more than 1.1 million patients a year, which equates to one in every five people living in NSW. Ryde Hospital was established in 1934 after strong lobbying by the community. It features inpatient, outpatient and community services, as well as the specialised Graythwaite Rehabilitation Centre which opened in 2013. Mona Vale Hospital has been providing quality healthcare to the Northern Beaches community for over 50 years. It provides high-level rehabilitation services as well as in-patient and community palliative care.
