Golfing Legacies

Wilmington Country Club isn't just a course, it's a storied stage where golfing legends have been forged. Both our North and South Courses have witnessed some of the sport's most prestigious events, dating back to hosting the 1913 U.S. Women's Amateur.

A Tradition of Excellence: 1913 U.S. Women’s Amateur 1965 U.S. Junior Amateur 1971 U.S. Amateur

1978 U.S. Junior Amateur 2003 U.S. Mid-Amateur 2013 Palmer Cup 2022 BMW Championship

Nurturing Champions: In 2013, the club played a pivotal role in the Palmer Cup, a competition featuring rising stars from Europe and the United States. Among the participants were the 2019 BMW Champion Justin Thomas and Daniel Berger, showcasing the event's ability to identify future golfing greats. The Tradition Continues: In 2022 we were honored to host the BMW Championship, adding another chapter to our illustrious history and where we witnessed the next generation of golfing legends write their stories on our hallowed grounds. Wilmington Country Club's renowned "South Course" provided the perfect stage for this world-class competition. The course's challenging layout and rich history pushed players to their limits, ultimately crowning Patrick Cantlay as a deserving champion.
