LBW freshman Anna McKinney and her mother Mrs. Tammy McKinney are both proud members of the Saints Family. Anna is a 2022-2023 Ambassador who chose to attend LBW on the Andalusia campus because of “the friendly and welcoming atmosphere it exudes.” Mrs. McKinney, a retired 32-year elementary education veteran, started her higher ed studies at LBW in 1986. “Choosing to attend LBW was such a positive experience. Smaller class sizes allowed me to have more individualized attention from instructors,” she said. “It is an honor and privilege to be an LBW Alumna. Having our daughter, Anna, attend LBW makes us extremely proud. Seeing her grow, learn, and mature lets us know she is RECRUITER AND DUAL ENROLLEE Director of Student Recruitment, Heather Owen started in her position at LBW over 15 years ago. “I started working at LBW in August of 2006, two months after my son Jackson was born,” she said. “To say that being a member of the Saints Family is an important part of my life would be an understatement. Some of the most impactful things Mrs. McKinney learned at LBW that guided her in her career as an educator were “learning to step outside my comfort zone, interact with people with diverse backgrounds, and use critical thinking and communication skills effectively.” Her daughter Anna says as a student and college ambas - sador she is looking forward to developing those exact skills and undergoing those experiences. “I can’t wait to build new relationships with fellow students and staff members. I’m ready to begin this new, exciting portion of my life!”
“I enrolled in three classes that summer,” he said. “The instructors were great, and it was convenient for me to take college courses online and in my hometown while I was on summer break.”
Jackson will graduate from Andalusia High School in 2024 with over 30 college credits and a Computer User Support Specialist Certificate from LBW. “I’m proud of him for getting ahead in his college career,” Mrs. Owen said. “He has done a remarkable job taking advantage of LBW courses offered on his high school campus, online, and on-campus during summer mini-terms.” Mrs. Heather Owen is always here to help you with your decision for higher education.
