SAFETY
Intended Use • Grippers are intended for industrial use.
• All work should be performed by qualified personnel. • Grippers are not intended to be used as a safety device. • Grippers can be used for holding or moving workpieces, or for simple machining operations with workpieces within the permissible load limits and technical data. Grippers are not intended for clamping, workholding, pressing tool, punching, cutting tool or drill. • The gripper should not be subject to sharp blows. • Appropriate use includes adherence to all published specifications specific to each gripper. • Any utilization that exceeds or differs from the appropriate use is regarded as misuse and may result in personal injury or damage to property and will void the warranty. DANGER Risk of fatal injury from suspended loads! • Falling loads can cause serious injuries and even death. • Stand clear of suspended loads and do not step within their range of motion. • Never leave suspended loads unattended unless it can be isolated so as to not cause harm to personnel or damage to other equipment. • Always wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) when working with or near a suspended load. WARNING Be mindful of the hazards of moving and loose parts! • Rotating components and/or components moving linearly may cause severe injuries even death. • Do not interfere with moving parts during operation. • During operation and in the event of a power failure, falling and ejected objects can lead to serious injury or death. • Take necessary protective measures to secure the hazardous zone. • Ensure that energized actuators are transferred to a safe condition in the event of a power failure. • Always wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in and around automated equipment. WARNING During maintenance Risk of injury can be minimized! Before starting any work on the product: • Switch off the power supply and follow local Lockout/Tagout procedures to protect against machinery restarting. • Bleed-off residual energy remaining in the system, to prevent components from moving unexpectedly and causing serious injury. • Always wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing any maintenance on automation equipment. CAUTION During maintenance Risk of injury can be minimized! • Worn or damaged components on the product may come loose or destroy the product, causing serious injury. • Conduct regular visual inspections of the individual components for wear and damage. • Ensure all hoses and cables are secured adequately to prevent leaks and reduce the risk of electrical shock. • Verify all tubing and cable connections are tight. • Grippers have pinch points that can cause serious injury. Grippers may pinch, crush or lacerate fingers or other body parts. Keep all body parts clear of the gripper when it is energized. • Broken and flying debris can be caused by a gripper that is misaligned with the part when the gripping force is applied. • Before working with the product, personnel should familiarize themselves with the grippers and the apparatus the grippers will be mounted to. • Switch off the power supply before carrying out assembly work. Ensure that no residual energy remains and secure against inadvertent reactivation. • Never deactivate safety installations. • When an energy supply is connected, do not move any parts by hand. • Observe maintenance intervals. • Perform visual inspections for damage and wear to the product. • Perform maintenance with the product in a de-energized state. • Secure moving parts. • Pay attention to any remaining mechanical (e.g. due to springs) or electrical energy in the system. • Always wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing any maintenance on automation equipment.
