1940 Car Horns-Original The pair of trumpets fit into the mounting bracket which bolts to the driver’s side inner fender apron. The below grommets fit around the trumpet tubes and insulate them from the bracket
Shown at left is an early year 1940 horn button with plastic mounting tabs which Ford later replaced with the steel 3-tab bracket. It’s obvious that Ford realized the need for a tougher, non-breakable
solution, probably improved due to complaints from the assembly line. Ford’s assembly workers were taught to recognize and immediately report any questionable engineering flaws.
