Before we started making the massive rubber molds, we tested different machining techniques for perfectly reproducing the original step surfaces. Our engineers took no shortcuts in making each detail perfect. After running comparisons between CNC milling (computer numerical control) and EDM (electro-discharge machining), we chose the EDM method. This revolutionary milling technique is the perfect tooling method for making finely detailed pyramids and ribs in the high quality weather resistant rubber. The precise cutting is made by micro-sized electrical arcs. Perfect Board to Body Fit When you install our boards, you’ll appreciate the fact that we made them to FIT ! This feature allows the board to correctly mesh with the body for a fit that would meet the standards of the Ford factory. Zinc-plated Heavy Gauge Steel Construction Other manufacturers claim heavy gauge construction. For Bob Drake, that’s a given. We exactly duplicate Ford’s sturdy steel panel and braces to get the tough rigidity of the originals. Then we zinc-plate the boards for many years of corrosion free service.
