Shaping Thick Steel
Extreme pressure is applied to shape the heavy running board sheet metal in this large hydraulic press. Seen here are the huge dies used to make our 1933-34 running board “inserts”, meaning the inner steel which is then carefully trimmed and placed into the rubber mold where high-grade rubber is then vulcanized over the top and sides of the insert.
The undersides each feature the original style cross-braces with all mounting holes in the original locations. Thicknesses of the steel and rubber match the original Ford units. All of our boards have vulcanizing holes as original.
Bob and engineer Mike Birmingham set QC standards on a production running board to ensure you get the finest product available for your treasured Ford.
