G I F T S We thank Thee, Lord, for gifts that come from men, But, oh, the Gift that came from Bethlehem Is speaking to our hearts above the mirth, The tinselled toys of this encum bered earth— God's Gift to man — words fail to estimate The matchless worth of love so deep, so great, As fallen man to raise from dregs of earth To heaven's own glory, by a second birth. Make we a gift to Thee this Christ- mastide, A precious soul, redeemed and purified, That such a one should, through sal vation, see The face of God through all eternity. — Gordon E. Hooker HEART SEARCHING QUESTIONS FROM THE CHRISTMAS STORY 1. "There was no room for them in the' inn" (Lk. 2:7). Have you given the Lord Jesus room in your heart by accepting Him as your Saviour? (Rev. 3:20). 2. "For unto you is born this day . . . a Saviour" (Lk. 2:11). Is the Lord Jesus your Saviour? If not, won't you make Him yours to day? (John 1:29). 3. "Let us now go even unto Beth lehem" (Lk. 2:15). Have you by faith again journeyed to Bethlehem, there to behold the Lord Jesus, your Saviour? (II Cor. 3:18). 4. "And when they had seen . . . they made known" (Lk. 2:17). Have you "made known" to others the good news concerning Jesus? (Matt. 2 8:19, 20). 5. "And the shepherdsreturned, glorifying and praising God'1 (Lk. 2 : 20 ). Are you praising God today for the Lord Jesus your Saviour? (II Cor. 9:15). 6. "W e . . . are come to worship him" (Matt. 2:2). Have you really worshipped Him at this Christmas time? He is worthy! (John. 4:23, 24). 7. "Lo, the star . . . came and stood over where the young child was" (Matt. 2:9). Will you be a "Christmas star" for the Lord Jesus and lead someone to Him at this Christmas time?

UN SPEAKABLE G IFT

Say, what is the meaning of Christ mas-tide, The day that is dearer than all beside? Say, what is its message, what does it tell, That childhood and age should love it so well? It meaneth that once in the long ago A Baby was born in a manger low, While seraphim sang of His wondrous birth, And sages came from the ends of the earth. It means that the Christ in the heart is bom As truly as once on the Christmas morn; And all who will welcome Him to abide

Will find that each day is a Christ mas-tide. It ringeth a message more loud and clear, Proclaiming the glad millennial year. For Bethlehem's star has risen once more, And the world's long night is al most o'er. Ring louder, ye bells of the Christmas- tide; Ye heralds, re-echo it far and wide; Tell out to the nations again and again, The Gospel of peace, goodwill to men.
