Dr Joanna Hartley is the Undergraduate Courses Manager of the Computer Science cluster of courses within the academic team of Computing and Technology. She is Module Leader of the level 5 module Applied Maths and Graphics. She also contributes to teaching on the following modules: level 6 Final Year Project; level 5 Practical Project and Professional Development; level 4 Computer Technology and Maths; level 4 Foundations of Computing and Technology (Numeracy strand). Computing and Technology at NTU combines internationally significant research with an oustanding record for teaching excellence. Our state-of-the-art facilities and career-focused approach to course design provide the right conditions for students to succeed in their chosen field. Our undergraduate and postgraduate courses are designed to be industrially relevant with the right balance of theory and practice. We teach our students to be technically strong, creative and future proof for the wrold of work, or further study. We have exceptional success in securing high quality industrial placements and high graduate employability. All our degrees are accedited by the BCS (British Computer Society).

Going on a placement is an invaluable experience for our students. In Computing we recognise the value fo a placement year for our students’ knowledge, experience and future employability. Over the years we have built relationships with hundreds of companies, both at home and abroad, and have a fully dedicated team to ensure students are supported before, during and after their placement.
