HONORING YOUR JOURNEY Thank You for Sharing Your Wisdom
Conversations with those of you in retirement and pre-retirement provide wonderful stories, insight into life adventures, and firsthand advice. I’ve learned to appreciate the richness of shared experiences. These valuable life lessons extend way beyond financial expertise. My clients’ wisdom has become my own compass. In these moments of reflection, I feel rich — in life! The following insights have shaped how I approach life beyond work. Prioritizing Relationships: I’ve realized the importance of building strong relationships during retirement. Your stories have highlighted the significance of family bonds,
friendships, and social connections. Each of you has shown me the value of nurturing meaningful relationships in my own life. I’ve learned to invest time and effort in building and maintaining meaningful bonds. Work-Life Balance: Retirement planning involves finding the right balance between work and leisure — it’s all about that equilibrium. Many of you have shared your stories of successes and regrets related to work-life balance. From your experiences, I’ve learned valuable lessons and have been reminded to allocate time for relaxation, hobbies, and self-care. Health and Wellness: As they say, health is wealth, and being proactive is the key. Retirees often focus on health maintenance. I continue to adopt healthy habits, exercise routines, and preventive measures based on the lessons I’ve learned from each of you. Vitality is a precious gift. Adaptability and Resilience: Life throws us unexpected challenges and curveballs. A large number of you have shown remarkable resilience and adaptability in the face of health challenges, market fluctuations, and dynamic family changes. Your experiences have taught me how to navigate adversity with grace. Pursuing Passions: Your golden years have allowed you to pursue passions set aside during your working years. So many of you have inspired me to identify and dedicate
time to my own interests — after all, passion fuels the soul! (Stay tuned for updates on my upcoming 29029 marathon in Las Vegas later this year!) Embracing Change: A lot of you have weathered significant life transitions, whether downsizing, re-locating, or adjusting to new routines. I’ve gleaned valuable qualities from each of you, including flexibility and openness. Patience and Perseverance: Retirement planning takes time and effort. Each of you has demonstrated tremendous patience and flexibility; and, from your examples, I’ve learned that achieving goals requires consistent, steady progress. Retirement isn’t just about numbers and portfolios; it’s a sum total of all experiences and life lessons learned. You have taught me that retirement planning transcends spreadsheets and stock tickers. It’s about conquering the uncertainties, turning dreams into reality, and enjoying the simple pleasures and the quiet, reflective moments. For these lessons, I’m forever grateful! My lifelong partnership and bond with each one of you, our clients, is truly a precious gift — one I will protect and cherish for always!

GRILL AND CHILL Host a Summer
Barbecue for Everyone
Enjoying your own party can be more complicated than it sounds. Backyard barbecues are a high point of summer, but hosting one you enjoy with your guests requires planning. “If swimming is on the agenda, consider protecting new or light- colored indoor furniture with water-resistant covers so guests in wet swimsuits can sit wherever they want without stressing out their host,” says Calla Quinn, a TikTok influencer who recently posted tips on hosting up to 50 friends at your home. Another tip she shares is using portable misting fans in dry climates. These devices create a fine mist to refresh passersby in seconds, and they are
or passion fruit margaritas. Martha Stewart suggests allowing amateur mixologists to concoct their own beverages by setting out bottled juices, artisanal sodas, and kombucha. A stylish yet simple way to serve hors d’oeuvres and side dishes to complement your grilled entree is to assemble or have catered a charcuterie board. These feature finger foods such as meats, cheeses, olives, spreads, fruits, nuts, chips, and crackers. A fully stocked charcuterie board adds a decorative touch while keeping guests well-fed for hours, adding what Quinn calls “a real wow factor.” And to make sure your day ends well, look for disposable,
especially popular on patios and decks. If attendees offer to bring something, don’t hesitate to accept, and be specific about what you want — from lawn chairs to beach
compostable bamboo or wooden dishes. Searching for “eco-friendly tableware and cutlery” should turn up some good options. This one last detail can go a long way toward supporting sustainable living while ensuring you don’t spend any valuable party time cleaning up broken glass or washing dishes.
towels. Martha Stewart recommends having a stain remover on hand to manage stains and cloth towels that guests can use to wipe up spills. Expert hosts also recommend a self-serve bar for casual summer gatherings. Consider filling several 3-gallon drink dispensers with popular options. Depending on your guest list, you might offer family fare such as lemonade, iced tea, ice water, or premixed cocktails like strawberry vodka lemonade
