Teamworks pays off for the Beavers

Next, the Beavers had an early-morning meeting with the Stittsville Rams on Saturday. Tyler Somers scored the "rst and only goal for Clarence in the "rst period. The Rams tied it early in the second period, scoring at 17:52. Less than two minutes later, Sébastien Dion got one in on the power play to give the Beavers a 2-1 lead. The Rams again tied the score 2-2 in the third period. The Beavers answered with a goal from Pier-Olivier Fournier. With 3:15 left in the game, Sébastien Dion scored his second goal of the night to make it 4-2. The Rams removed their goalie for a sixth player on the ice. With one second left, Dion completed a hat trick with his third goal. Sunday, the Beavers beat the Almonte Thunder by the same score, 5-2. Clarence took a 3-0 lead in the "rst 20 minutes thanks to goals by Pier-Olivier Fournier, Jean- François Lupien (power play) and Cameron Walker. In the second period, penalties took their toll on the Beavers, who gave up two power play goals to the Thunder, making it 3-2. In the last period, the Beavers had their shot on the power play and they took it. Jordan Baptiste brought the score to 4-2 at 3:41. A few seconds later, Olivier Brunet scored the "fth goal assisted by Pier-Olivier Fournier and Karl Larivière. The Beavers host the Perth Blue Wings, Sunday, at 2:15 p.m. at the Clarence Creek arena.

A fter su!ering a "fth loss in a row last Thursday against the O ttawaWest Golden Knight, C larence bounced back on its skates over the weekend to beat S tittsville 5-2, S aturday, and then the A lmonte Thunder 5-2 on S unday. “What I saw during those two games was teamwork,” said General Manager Charlie Lavictoire. “If the guys continue to give there all for 60 minutes, we’ll see some victories.” Thursday, the game started out "ne as the Beavers took a strong 4-1 lead in the "rst period. Sébastien Dion got two goals in while Cameron Walker and Tyler Somers each scored a goal. Riley Hennigar scored for the Knights. In the second period, it was Hennigar for Ottawa again with two consecutive goals for the hat trick. The Knights then scored two more goals to take the lead 5-4. Hennigar once again led the attack for Ottawa scoring his fourth goal of the game. The Golden Knights got a seventh goal after to win it 7-4. “They had a secret weapon here,” said Lavictoire. “We’ll keep an eye on Hennigar for the next games.”

Coco Lemay hockey Mid-December is rep time for hockey in Clarence-Rockland. The Clarence-Rockland Crush host the Second Annual Coco Lemay Rep B Hockey Tournament, Dec. 12 to 14, at the Clarence Creek Arena and at the CIHA Arena in Rockland. This year’s tournament has more than 30 teams signed up for play from around Prescott-Russell and the Ot- tawa area. The tournament is an annual tribute to Jacques “Coco” Lemay, a long-time supporter and active volunteer in local hockey for more than "ve decades.
