PRODUCT TRAINING

Executive Director 3 Cory Cochrane once had a long list of gut health issues that she artfully covered up. Working a stressful job in the ER, she did her best to act like she was the picture of health. “I looked well enough on the outside,” she says. “I worked out and did so-called cleanses regularly. You would have never guessed that I was feeling so miserable.” For years, she searched for solutions that would help her feel better. But as out of balance as she was, her health wasn’t her top concern. She and her husband, Matthew, were broke and deep in debt. Their top priority was straightening out their finances. It wasn’t until much later that Cory recognized the connection between her financial health and her physical health. In the depths of these struggles, Cory’s best friend, National Director Courtney Martin, invited her to learn more about Melaleuca. With her family’s finances on her mind, Cory immediately zeroed in on Melaleuca’s referral business opportunity. This vehicle for creating a reliable second income was just what she had been searching for. But it wasn’t until Cory was holding the products from her first order that she truly realized what she had discovered with Melaleuca. “As I began to use the products— including the Peak Performance Nutrition Pack —I noticed a big change in how I was feeling,” Cory says. “As the weeks went by, I started to feel like I was getting a handle on my gut health. I didn’t have to fake feeling well anymore!” Over the subsequent years, Cory gradually regained the physical wellness she had longed for. At the same time, she worked hard to grow her Melaleuca business and the repeat income it generated. Along the

way, she saw her emotional and mental wellness improve as well. Her family was in a better situation. Her social wellness improved. She had built lifelong relationships of support. And her own coaching and mentoring efforts had truly enhanced many lives. But she still had more steps to take. “Building my Melaleuca business set me on a journey of growth,” she says. “It pushed me to address all of the underlying issues that were keeping me from improving my mental and emotional wellness—until I was ready to deal with the last big hurdle: cutting alcohol from my life. That hasn’t been easy, but I’m happy to say I’ve been sober now for a year!” Overcoming her alcohol problem taught Cory a lot about herself. She realized that she had been standing in the way of her own contentment. “I used to base my happiness on reaching a goal,” she explains. “I would tell myself, ‘Once this happens, then I’ll be happy.’ But I’ve practiced mindfulness and meditation to cut out the negative chatter in my head. Most importantly, I can be working hard to reach my goals, but I can also be happy in the moment. Each day, I go walking. I walk slowly, enjoying the moment. When the chatter has stilled and quieted, that’s when I have my big aha revelations.” Like all of us, Cory’s journey to total wellness is far from over. But she’s grateful that she gets to share her journey with so many others, especially her family, her friends, and everyone in the Melaleuca community. “We have such a wonderful environment and supportive culture here at Melaleuca,” she says. “It has made such a difference for me as I’ve worked to create a healthier life for myself and my family.”
