Junior Alleynian 2022

Annual Strings Competition

n It was with the greatest joy and excitement that we held our 11th Junior Strings Festival in the Junior School Hall on Monday 9 May. We all know that learning and performing an instrument is one of the most important and lasting experiences for young people and their development, and it was wonderful to see the boys having this opportunity to perform again after what has been a hiatus of some three years. We had 37 boys entered for the Festival in six classes performing music ranging from beginner to advanced and from the early Baroque to the very modern. It was such a joy to see so many boys keen to participate. Throughout the day we heard boys playing violin, viola, cello, double bass, acoustic guitar and electric guitar with such a range of musical sounds and styles. It is certainly something to celebrate that we have so much music making and talent in the Junior School.
