William Vaughan

Sophie joined in September 2018 as Year 6 Coordinator, and settled in quickly with her signature calm and professionalism. In her second year at the College, she took on the additional roles of Jonson Housemaster and maternity cover for Assistant Head Co-Curricular - which included running a fantastic programme of virtual clubs during lockdown. Her virtual Magic Club is still a popular topic of conversation amongst the Junior School boys! During her time at Dulwich, Sophie has had lots of exciting life changes, including marrying her husband Miles, moving to Surrey, and having baby Theo. She leaves Dulwich to work as a childminder in Surrey - to some very lucky children indeed. Dulwich’s loss is the childcare world’s gain, and we wish her the very best of luck with this exciting venture.

This year we say goodbye to our long-serving caretaker in the Junior School, Barry Gower. Barry has been with the Junior and Lower schools for 20 years. Over that time, he has continually supported the staff and boys. He has kept us safe with his patrols by the crossing and in our fire evacuations. He has helped keep the buildings tidy and in a good state of repair. He has kept the Common Rooms well stocked, especially with prompt replenishment of the essential and delicious biscuits! And all the while doing this with happiness and a smile on his face that radiates all around him. We wish him the best of luck in his retirement, which he thoroughly deserves.

Silvana Orovic joined the Junior School in September 2020 in the role of Afternoon

William Vaughan joined the Junior School in September 2021 in his role as After School Care Assistant. He quickly settled into life at the Junior School, providing a warm and welcoming environment and supporting the boys with their Home Learning activities. He integrated himself into the Junior School Common Room and built up a good rapport with staff and students alike. As a Rugby and sports enthusiast, he volunteered in PE and Games lessons in both Junior and Senior Schools and developed a love for sports teaching. Thanks to his evident passion and commitment, William gained a full-time Graduate Teacher position at DPL, which he began in January 2022.

Receptionist and After School Care Manager.

Her calm, pragmatic, and organised nature meant she quickly settled into the role. It was clear to all that Silvana wanted to make Home Learning Club and After School Care a calm, welcoming, and enjoyable place for the boys and strived to create the best opportunities for them and their learning. Silvana was also always willing to go above and beyond for both students and colleagues, helping out on trips, admissions days and at free learning events. Her support was particularly appreciated by the Year 6 team at PGL for the past two years! While at the Junior School, Silvana completed her Teaching Assistant qualification and leaves us to take up a Teaching Assistant position at the White House Preparatory School in Clapham. We wish her the best of luck in this exciting next step of her career.
