Measuring Video Quality Using AI Why It’s Relevant and Reliable
The Big News Spirent’s Umetrix Video system determines quality of transmitted video without needing to compare it to an unimpaired reference. It scores video quality for HD or 4K devices on a 1 to 5 VMOS (video mean opinion score) scale. Umetrix uses a unique “record once, score many” approach with specialised models to detect artifacts in various use cases. In this paper, we’ll explain how our Non-Reference for Compression model achieves a >90% correlation to VMAF, the state-of-the- art perceptual video quality metric.
