Scotland members asked for informal gatherings where they could meet, share ideas, and chat about issues that matter to them – which is why the FMB hosted a Builder’s Breakfast at its office in Edinburgh in late October. With coffee and bacon rolls aplenty, members enjoyed the event and the plan is to run more Builder’s Breakfast events in other parts of the country next year. If you would like to host an event or you could suggest a venue in your area, please get in touch with Gordon Nelson using the details below. Join the Builder’s Breakfast
Clients meet members in Edinburgh In October, the Homebuilding & Renovating Show returned to the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh, where the FMB hosted a stand, and members provided guidance to homeowners and potential clients on how to find and work with good building contractors. Most of the delegates visiting the stand or the ‘Ask the Builder’ advice centre were about to begin a renovation, extension or refurbishment project. “My thanks to all of the members who gave up all or part of their weekend to help us at the exhibition,” said Scotland Director Gordon Nelson.
Matthew Campbell, Director of Scotland member M W Campbell Building & Property Maintenance, said: “This was the first time I have helped the FMB at an exhibition. While I was delighted to speak with potential clients based near me in Glasgow, I spoke with many others from all across Scotland. “No doubt fellow members will pick up enquiries from the people I spent time giving advice to at the exhibition.”
