HARRY MILLEN

I know what you’re thinking.

‘Waiting For Brian’ depicts an anonymous narrator in a society dominated by an obsession with class, to the backdrop of urban decay. The narrator looks on, not subject to this divide, but imprisoned by another entity: a named, yet equally anonymous figure. This story was inspired by Murakami and Nabokov and offers a combination of metafiction and delayed revelation. The narrow perspective the narrator presents to the reader is intended to convey the emotional isolation of contemporary society, where technology reigns supreme. The train station represents both escape and imprisonment: “neutral ground” where rich and poor gather on their separate platforms.
