Genetic Selection COWS This sale offering is the result of a disciplined breeding program over more than 6 decades and up to 16 generations of selections of herd bulls and a cowherd that is uniquely bred for a balance of traits on lower quality endophyte fescue pastures. This management and selection process separates the contenders from the pretenders increasing the likelihood they will work for you regardless of whether you ranch in the southeast fescue belt or northern and western regions. Emphasis has been placed on maternal, fertility and longevity. There is a difference!
This cowherd set an industry standard at preg check time this year with only 1% open. They achieved this accomplishment during a record drought because of their genetic makeup from decades of stringent selection for fertility, fleshing ability, and problem free MATERNAL traits. You will note that our females display a consistent pattern and maternal wedge shape with femininity, depth and spring of rib enabling them to consume forages alone yet remain in excellent body condition while raising a big healthy calf and breeding back on time year after year. This functional and eye appealing body design along with proper skeletal structure combined with an optimal hormonal balance contribute greatly to their longevity and durability. Weaning more pounds per cow exposed in a low-cost management system = higher profits! BULLS The bulls selling are a result of our functionally superior cowherd and intense selection standards for over 6 decades. They were developed sensibly with our customers in mind to ensure fertility and longevity. Each bull in the sale was born without assistance, raised through the winter by their dam with only hay and mineral provided. No creep feed, just their mamma’s milk. They were weaned in late May some over 8 months of age. We demand our cows work yet easily regain their flesh in the 3-4 months they have off. The bulls were then placed in a 40-50 acre pasture with grass, water and shade. They were fed a high roughage pelleted ration supplied by Performance Livestock and Feed to ensure soundness and fertility. This has worked well for our customers as we rarely see foot or fertility issues. You will note these bulls have a stamped pattern of masculinity, soundness, natural muscling and thickness in a smooth eye appealing package.
