12 -1.3 38 73 24 0.21 28 71 1/93 This RattleOn son is thick-made, smooth, strong-topped displaying extra muscle in a calving ease package. His Knockout sired dam has a perfect udder. She’s out of the Helen 052 cow who produced many outstanding daughters for us and weaned 11 calves with an average 104 ratio. Equally impressive is the maternal consistency throughout this pedigree: the next four dams on the bottom side all have lifetime weaning ratios of 103 or better. Lot 481 is double bred to Black Bore 616, concentrating the influence of one of the most proven and impactful sires in our program’s history.

7 2/98 This bull is as correct and eye-appealing as you can make them—strong and straight in his topline, clean, smooth, balanced, and thick with the kind of phenotype that commands attention. Black Groove was the high-gaining bull on test. He comes from our dominant Helen cow family. Note that the third dam on the bottom side of his pedigree is the Helen 052 cow who weaned 11 calves with an average 104 ratio. His maternal grandsire sold to Goddard Farms in North Carolina and is a full brother to the dam of Ginger Hill Rock Star 443 (lot 443), a featured Poncho son in this sale. Black Groove is a complete genetic package—combining phenotype, documented performance, and generational maternal depth—that builds profitable programs.

Mountain Our View

We push our cattle to harvest grass in less than ideal and sometimes harsh conditions. Mother nature and the cattle sort themselves. Faults are exposed not covered up. No creep feeders, no corn, and no silage. Just Fescue grass and hay. This is the truest test of efficiency as only those that can handle the REAL WORLD COMMERCIAL COWMAN CONDITIONS will excel and rise to the top. We’ve been in the Angus business for 66 years, with our roots in the commercial cow-calf business. Our cowherd is line-bred and outcross to most of the breed.
