HOMESCHOOL PROGRAMS Let’s go exploring together! Join your Park Naturalist at the Delores Fenwick Nature Center for the quarterly Homeschooling Program. Each programwe will dive into various STEAM aligned topics to further our understanding of the natural world. Programs will be applicable to children ages 5 to 15. Registration is only required for participating children and we ask that parents attend with their children. Programs typically last two hours and are on the first Thursday of the month in September, November, February and April. Pre-registration is required to attend this program. $10 resident / $12.50 non-resident 5 to 15 years DFNC Thur., Feb. 3, 10 a.m. – noon Thur., April 7, 10 a.m. – noon OUTREACH PROGRAMS Bring the adventure of nature right to your facility! Outreach Programs are designed for a variety of age levels and can accommodate large groups or single classrooms. Each program lasts 30-45 minutes and includes several live animal encounters. Reservations are required at a minimum of two weeks in advance. Program pricing starts at $100 but varies by location distance and number of participants. $100+ 0 to 99 years Anywhere in a 35-mile radius Select Tues., Wed., & Thur., 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

SEASONAL NATURE WORKSHOP – OWL NESTING BOX Owls are nature’s natural rodent removal service but many have trouble finding adequate places to nest. During this workshop, participants will learn to identify owl species found in South Texas, discover the many benefits owls have on the environment, uncover common threats to owls, and create an owl nesting box to install at their home. The cost of the owl nesting box and necessary building materials are covered in the registration fee for the program. Please only register 1 person per household as registration and fees are only required for the reservation of the nesting box. Families may attend together but please be advised that this program will be in a lecture format with the use of tools and may not be suitable for children under 16 years old. We ask that registered participants bring no more than three additional attendees. $35 resident / $43.75 non-resident 16+ years DFNC Sat., Feb. 26, 1 – 3 p.m. FIELD TRIP PROGRAMS The Delores Fenwick Nature Center is now booking field trips for the 2021-2022 school year. During each field trip, groups will be able to discover the traits of a healthy ecosystem, learn ways to help protect natural areas and, of course, meet live animals. These educational programs are designed by grade level and are TEK- aligned. Reservations are required at a minimum of two weeks in advance. Pricing begins at $8 per participating child. $8/student 0 to 99 years DFNC Select Tues., Wed., & Thur., 10 a.m.–2 p.m. DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAMS Want to bring nature to your virtual classroom? The DFNC has you covered! These virtual field trip programs offer a variety of engaging topics like Home Sweet Home, Just Right for Night and Scoop on Poop. Each program is TEKS-aligned for students in elementary grades but can be adapted for older or younger audiences. Each virtual lesson also includes instructions for pre- and post-virtual lesson activities and is sure to offer your class the best virtual experience of the semester. $100+ 0 to 99 years DFNC Select Tues., Wed., & Thur., 10 a.m. –2 p.m.
