The Special Election was initiated by voter approved adoption of a Charter Amendment (Measure D) on March 4, 2024. Measure D included a provision that requires a by-district special municipal election be held in the respective Council District at the earliest feasible date if a vacating Councilmember serving the remainder of an at-large term resides in either Council District 5 or Council District 6 Campaign Contribution Limit January 2025 – December 2026): $650.00
