October was incredible! We actively worked together to raise awareness about Breast Cancer. The CDC informs us that Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women in the United States. Our Jacobi and NCB teams coordinated various events to educate our patients and community about the symptoms and risk factors of the disease while advocating for regular mammograms for early detection and intervention. I’m proud of your commitment to quality, person-centered care.
We also celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month! Acknowledging the contributions of our Hispanic Leaders in Healthcare.
I’m grateful for the support from our external stakeholders, who align themselves with our mission to provide access to advanced healthcare for residents in the Bronx communities we serve. Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson hosted a special press event for Bronx Public Health facilities, during which she awarded NCB and Jacobi a check for $2 million each. These funds will go towards upgrading our facilities’ magnetic resonance imaging systems to support early and efficient diagnoses for our patients. We value her partnership. Also, in October, we hosted a press conference for NYC Council Member Marjorie Velázquez, who was joined by NYC Council Speaker Adrienne E. Adams, and NYC Council Member Rafael Salamanca during which they presented Jacobi with a check for $6 million. NYC Council Member Mercedes Narcisse, and NYC Assembly Member John Zaccaro, Jr. were also present to express their support. These allocated funds will go towards Pediatrics, Dental, Cath Lab, MRI Upgrades, and Bi-Plane Camera to advance the quality of care we provide for our patients daily. Additionally, we resumed our CAB meetings, and we are thankful to the Bronx Borough President, Vanessa L. Gibson, for appointing reputable new members to join our board to serve as community advocates for our facilities and Bronx residents in the communities we serve. We are thankful to all our CAB members who volunteer their time and efforts. Furthermore, congratulations to our Behavioral Health team! The long-awaited renovated Adult Mental Health Outpatient Treatment Practice was open to the public. This newly renovated space marks the first step of integrating behavior health with Jacobi’s primary care services.
Lastly, thank you all for participating in the 2023 Employee Feedback Survey! Your voice matters, and we value your time and opinions.
A lot is happening in the world around us. Express kindness to yourself and others. I am proud to work alongside all of you every day.
I’m encouraging you to get a flu shot! Stay safe and healthy.
