Summary Regionally, the Indian forestry program is funded considerably lower than the Forest Service except in the Pacific Northwest. This is likely due to the fact that

substantial acreage of Pacific Northwest forests are in land allocations that preclude active management, such as late successional reserves, but these allocations were not subtracted in Table A.12. Note that state

and private comparators exceed both tribal and Forest Service comparators (Table A.12). State funding exceeds BIA funding in regions other than the Eastern Region.
