CONTINUOUS GROWTH & PROGRESS
Dear Friends,
accompanied by impressive calves. Following the Elite Heifer Event on Saturday, we will transition into the Grass Time segment of our registered female event, offering approximately 28 head for sale, with buyers having the option to purchase up to three females at a time, allowing for bulk purchases. Many AI and ET heifers will be open and ready to breed. After a brief lunch break, we will commence the Commercial Female Sale an offering of 650 head, featuring more than 400 pairs and heavy bred first calf heifers. Additionally, we will be selling around 90 fall bred heifers and an equal number of open heifers ready to breed. A wide variety of Brangus,
Nancy and I are excited to invite you to our annual sale of registered and commercial females, scheduled for Friday, April 25th, and Saturday, April 26th. Following our recent spring bull sales, we’ve experienced an incredible surge in demand for our Brangus bulls. The interest in commercial females is unprecedented, and we are seeing strong demand for registered females out in the marketplace as we move through 2025. We are excited to present our spring selection of females during our Cutting Edge Bred and Open Heifer Event on Saturday morning. This event will showcase an exceptional
array of bred and open heifers from Cavender Ranches, along with great contributions from our cooperators and genetic partners, creating an exciting sale atmosphere. Our lineup features females sired by some of the most promising young sires in our program, including Ace of Spades, New Standard, Longmire, Deadwood, Express, Big League, and proven bulls like Masterpiece, Growth Fund, Paramount, Cowboy, and Oracle, among others. Additionally, on Friday evening, we will host the Mature Cow, Donor, and 3N1 Sale at 5:00, featuring cows that have played a vital role in the success of our program and others. This sale will highlight proven donors and several younger 3-in-1s, each
Black Super Baldies, F1 Tiger stripe, and many heifers carrying AI pregnancies and calves out of several breed leading low birthweight high growth sires. We invite everyone to come and preview the females on Thursday and Friday. Don’t miss the chance to join us for the Mature Cow Sale at 5 PM, followed by a customer appreciation dinner after the sale!
Best regards,
Joe Cavender, Cavender Brangus

MARK COWAN CAVENDER RANCHES MARKETING & CUSTOMER SERVICE
We are relentless in our pursuit of building better cattle at Cavender Ranches. We try to use all the tools available to us in our quest to improve our sale offerings sale after sale. We utilize AI in both our commercial and registered operation. We want to maximize the opportunity for each female we own to produce the best progeny she is capable of. We use embryo transplant to propagate the elite genetics in our cow herd and to expand the reach of our most gifted donor cows. We are fanatical about our record keeping and we are believers in the genomically enhanced EPDs our association is able to provide us with. Our commercial cattle out number our registered cattle and we were in the commercial Brangus business long before we became registered breeders. We think this keeps us grounded in the cattle industry and is advantageous in the production of real-world cattle that are capable of going out and making a living for you and themselves in today’s cattle industry. Because of our commercial experience we realize the importance of producing structurally sound, easy keeping females with great udders and the ability to raise a heavy calf and get bred back. We consider our commercial background a distinct advantage in the seedstock business.
We are also offering 25 units of semen on the now deceased T3 Modelo 129H4.
As you can see by looking at this catalog, the quality runs deep. I want to thank our friends, Cooperators and customers who saw fit to offer the kind of quality Brangus females you see in this catalog. Take a moment to look at these ranches listed above and study the cattle they are bringing. We think you will be impressed. We hope you can join us April 25th and 26th for this great sale offering. If we can be of assistance please contact any of the staff listed in this catalog. We hope to see you the 4th weekend in April!
We are selling 146 Lots of registered females totaling 172 head when counting the 3N1 splits. We are selling over 625 commercial females that will include
Pairs, Heavy Breds and Open Heifers. We want to believe we have quality registered and commercial cattle of value to every operation regardless of size or budget. GENERAL INFORMATION
CATTLE LOAD OUT Cattle will be available for load out immediately after the sale and proper settlement has been made on purchases. If you wish to loadout at a later date, please note that when you check-out. Arrangements can then be made to have your cattle ready when you arrive. SAVE ON SHIPPING AND HANDLING You can save shipping and handling charges by picking up semen that you will need for your fall or spring breeding season at the Cavender Ranches Sale at Cavender’s Neches River Ranch. Representatives from either Cavender Ranches or Integrated Breeders will be available to fill your orders. We would ask that you keep your orders to goblet increments of 5’s or 10’s so that we can avoid excessive handling of semen. Please contact Mark Cowan at 903-495- 4522 or Todd Harvey at 386-288-8059 to place your order prior to the sale to assure we have enough semen on hand and available on sale day. SALE ORDER The cattle will sell in sale order. We will have a printed sale order prior to the sale. Please note that commercial females will not be going through the ring and will be presented on video. GENETIC CONDITION POLICY Any animals that are confirmed as carriers of a genetic condition such as DD, developmental duplication, will be listed above their pedigrees as DDC. Any animals we are still waiting test results on will be listed DDPC. All other animals have been either confirmed free of known genetic conditions by test results or from pedigree analysis.
TRUSTED PERFORMANCE INFORMATION We are extremely dedicated to providing our customers the genetics needed to help positively impact their bottom line. We will not compromise the integrity of our data. Our goal remains to provide the information that will successfully identify the genetics most needed in your particular operation. The information provided by the IBBA was provided at weaning and yearling by the breeder for computation. We believe in EPD’s and realize they are only as good as the information going into the calculation. That is why we are careful with our contemporary groups and our reporting. Please realize that these cattle were in different contemporary groupings at weaning; therefore, it is not fair to compare birth, weaning and yearling weights from one herd to another. A wide range of environments are represented in this offering and thus have affected those weights, plus different management comes into play, i.e. creep fed vs. not creep fed. Within herd weights and ratios were good when that was the only information we had. However, EPD’s are a much better indicator of genetic potential and are the only way across herd comparisons can be made. Also, we have listed the current non-parent Brangus breed average EPD’s in the catalog for your reference and comparison on how individual lots compare to the average of the breed in any trait. ULTRABLACK The Ultrablack program has been a major success for us and an in-demand product for our commercial customers. Please note that we have noted the UB cattle in this catalog in the registration line of their pedigrees.
MAINTENANCE AFTER THE SALE
Cavender’s Neches River Ranch will work with customers on delivery of cattle in an effort to have the cattle delivered to customers as soon as possible after the sale. However, if you are not ready for the cattle at this time, we will maintain the cattle at the ranch for a period of time until you are ready for them. A nominal fee of $3.50 per day will be charged plus any veterinarian charges incurred will be billed. Cattle will be maintained on a growing ration in grass traps. Cattle become the buyer’s responsibility immediately after the sale. Cavender Ranches is not responsible for insurance costs or death. EPD’s
EPD PERCENTILE RANKINGS
GENOMICALLY ENHANCED EPD’s
EPDs Expected Progeny Difference (EPDs) is the best estimate of an animal’s genetic merit for a particular trait. It takes into account the animals’ own performance compared with its contemporaries and the performance of its relatives compared against their contemporaries. Birth Weight (BW) EPD predicts calf size and calving ease. Weaning Weight (WW) EPD predicts preweaning growth potential. Yearling Weight (YW) EPD predicts overall growth potential. Milk EPD predicts the maternal contribution to weaning weight of the calf through milk production, behavior, immunity and other maternal environmental factors. Total Maternal (TM) also, called M&G EPD predicts weaning weight of calves from a bull’s daughters. Scrotal Circumference (SC) EPD predicts not only testicular size of male progeny but also daughters onset of puberty. Terminal Index (TERM) combines birth weight, weaning weight, milk production, post wean gain, ribeye area, marbling, and back fat EPDs into a single number. The index is expressed as s standard deviation from the breed average, meaning that bulls with a +2 index are two standard deviations above
the average. Higher numbers are superior to low numbers. Fertility Index (FERT) combines heifer pregnancy, stayability, days to first calving, mature cow weight, and back fat EPDs into a single number. The index is expressed as s standard deviation from the breed average, meaning that bulls with a +2 index are two standard deviations above the average. Higher numbers are superior to low numbers. ULTRASOUND EPDs Ribeye Area (REA) EPD predicts total muscle. Intramuscular Fat (IMF) EPD predicts % of intramuscular fat which is highly correlated to marbling. *REA and FT are primary components of USDA YG and marbling is the primary component of USDA QG. PERFORMANCE Individual performance data is provided as supplementary information as EPDs provide more reliable evaluation of genetic differences of animals. Actual Birth Weight (BW) are reported. Weaning Weight (WW) are adjusted to 205 days. Yearling Weight (YW) are adjusted to 365 days. Scrotal Circumference (SC) is adjusted to 365 days.
Average Daily Gain (ADG) is a measure of growth rate on a high energy diet. It is positively associated with feed efficiency. Ribeye Areas (REA) are adjusted to 365 days and ratioed relative to contemporaries. Intramuscular Fat (IMF) are adjusted to 365 days and ratioed relative to contemporaries. IMF is highly correlated to marbling. Brangus EPDs are calculated by the Livestock Genetic Services and are part of a program called the National Cattle Evaluation (NCE). EPD PERCENTILE RANKINGS Individual ranking relative to the entire breed population on a specific trait, represented in the form of a percentage, with 1% being best and 99% being worst. DISPOSITION SCORING In the bull portion of this catalog we have included a disposition score for every Brangus & Ultrablack bull selling. 5 stars being the best and 1 being the worst. Please note the explanation of our scoring system below and contact Cavender Ranches with any questions you may have.
