Panicum ‘Hot Rod’ Hot Rod has airy red panicles held above the foliage. Blades emerge blue-green and rapidly the whole plant turns a deep, rich maroon. Hot Rod colors earlier in the season than any other selection, May-June in North America. • Entire plant becomes a deep purple-maroon • Blooms mid to late summer, panicles persist through winter • Drought tolerant once established • Compact, firmly upright habit, 36-40” x 36” • USDA Zone 4 (-30°F or -34°C) Uses: Garden beds and border, landscape plantings, screening and containers.
