The Unsung Heroes of Financial Stability

In an era of financial uncertainty and stress, the role of a trusted retirement financial advisor is more critical than ever. As the founder and president of Wolf Retirement Navigation (WRN) in 2014, I knew I wanted to dedicate my career to helping folks achieve financial security and peace of mind in their retirement years. A Pillar of Support in Times of Need Financial advisors often go unrecognized for the indispensable service they provide. While many self-proclaimed finance gurus dominate the media with quick tips and flashy advice, they frequently overlook the human element of financial planning. At WRN, we embody the true essence of financial advising, focusing on the years leading up to and during retirement. We don’t just offer advice; we provide empathy, understanding, and unwavering support. Consider the scenarios we face daily: guiding someone through the fear of outliving their savings, assisting a widow or widower in managing their finances after a significant loss, or providing reassurance during market volatility. These are moments when people need our extensive knowledge and compassion, and we rise to the occasion every time. Cutting Through the Noise In a world where money is often portrayed as just numbers and charts, we recognize financial planning is deeply personal and

emotional. We bring objectivity and clarity, helping clients navigate the complexities of their financial lives. Our ability to concentrate on the big picture while addressing immediate concerns helps clients make informed decisions and potentially avoid costly mistakes driven by fear or uncertainty. Making a Difference Beyond Numbers The impact of a skilled financial advisor can extend far beyond balancing budgets or optimizing portfolios. Our work at WRN is a testament to this truth. Our clients sleep better at night and gain confidence in their retirement plans while we cheer them on throughout their lives. I have personally witnessed our team members excel at this time and time again. Hope in Troubling Times Today, financial stress is a leading cause of anxiety, relationship strains, and health issues. The world needs dedicated financial advisors more than ever. We provide not just financial guidance but also hope and a clear path forward. Our approach is a lifelong partnership, walking alongside our clients and helping them navigate the intricacies of their financial journeys. The Value of True Financial Advising So, the next time someone you know questions the value of a retirement financial advisor, please share with them what we offer and the services we provide. Our work can change lives, offering essential support and guidance beyond numbers. Our unwavering commitment continually reminds us that real financial advising is about changing lives and providing invaluable peace of mind. At WRN, we are not just a retirement-based company; we are pillars of support in a world that often undervalues our contribution. Our team matters, and our work matters in ways most people will never fully appreciate. And you, our valued clients, are not just “most people”; and, for that, my team and I are beyond appreciative and extremely grateful!

RESCUE, COMFORT, AND REUNION HOW HARLEY BECAME A REAL-LIFE HERO

Everyone likes to believe their canine companions would jump into action if they noticed someone or something in danger. However, most dogs will never be in a position to save a life or avert a catastrophe. That’s probably a good thing, as watching one of your best friends risk their life for others would be incredibly stressful. In 2021, a Virginia family experienced precisely that as they witnessed their goldendoodle attempt a heroic rescue with a heartwarming aftermath. During an early summer evening, Ralph Dorn’s dog, Harley, was gone. He started surveying the lake behind his Culpepper, Virginia, home when he spotted the goldendoodle about 200 feet from shore. At first, he wondered what his dog was doing in the water, but he soon realized his trusty pup was not alone. Harley was swimming alongside a tiny baby deer. “Not sure how the fawn got out there, but Harley obviously didn’t ask why. He just jumped into action,” Dorn, 62, wrote in a Facebook post.

land. Once the deer was out of the water, Harley immediately started licking the fawn to comfort and calm it down. Harley didn’t want to leave the fawn, but after spotting the deer’s mother, Dorn escorted his heroic canine indoors. The fawn and mother walked away, seemingly never to be seen again. That was, until the next morning.

Harley appeared restless that morning, running from window to window. Dorn opened the front door to

see what was happening when he heard the fawn bleating. The deer had returned, eager to thank its rescuer! The two ran toward each other, touching noses and sniffing one another before Harley returned indoors. The brief reunion was enough to calm the fawn and Harley down, and Dorn has not seen either deer since that day. But that’s not Harley’s only heroic feat. The proud pup has also spent time as a certified therapy dog, providing comfort and companionship to seniors in care facilities and children reading at the

local library. We can all hope our dogs would take the same actions as Harley if presented with a similar opportunity!

Harley helped the fawn to shore, where Dorn greeted the animals and helped them climb back onto dry

CINDY’S TRAVEL TALES

Finding Joy and Adventure Across Continents

We love hearing about your travels! One of our clients, Cindy, has a zest for life reflected in her travels! At an age when many might prefer the comfort of familiar surroundings, Cindy packs her bags, often solo, and dives headfirst into adventures that many of us only dream of. Last year, Cindy took the trip of a lifetime. She began

her journey on Holy Island in England, joining an archaeological dig. This wasn’t her first dig, nor would it be her last. The excitement has brought her back to this spiritual place for three years in a row now. From there, she jetted off to Venice, where she explored her artistic side with fellow enthusiasts in a watercolor class. Right after that, Cindy found herself in Norway, chasing the beauty of the Northern Lights on a cruise. Cindy’s travels didn’t stop there. She returned home

just long enough to repack for the next leg of her journey — an adventure through Spain and Egypt. Once she returned, she took off again and spent time in Chicago and Michigan. Reflecting on her escapade, lasting nearly four months, Cindy shared, “It was nuts, but a lot of fun.” Travel is an important part of Cindy’s life. Before her husband passed away, she traveled often with him; before that, they took their children along with them. Exploring goes beyond sightseeing — she loves meeting new people and exploring. This year, Cindy’s itch for adventure will take her to Croatia and Slovenia, where she plans to venture alone for part of her trip. “If no one wants to see it, and I do, I just go,” she says. Her advice to anyone considering taking their own adventure is just to go. “What are you waiting for? Life is so short,” she says. “There’s so much to explore, so get out there and see it. Don’t be afraid to travel alone. Many groups on Facebook offer a bunch of inspiration for single women looking to travel. You can always start small with just a weekend getaway and branch out from there!” Cindy, your outlook on life and travel is infectious. You don’t only explore; you celebrate each step of your journey. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!

Discover the Endless Beaches and Vibrant Culture of Antigua Journey Through Time

Can you imagine escaping to a tropical island where you can visit a different beach every day for a year without ever seeing the same one twice? It’s not a fantasy. It’s Antigua. Antigua has long been known for its 365 beaches, from Halfmoon Bay’s silvery sands to Galley Bay Beach’s surfing waves. Unique for its history and native crafts, this eastern Caribbean island is rich in recreational and cultural attractions, as well as natural beauty. Christopher Columbus encountered Antigua in 1493, and the British subsequently colonized the island and neighboring Barbuda in the 1600s. Barbuda was originally planned as a slave-breeding colony, but the enslaved people brought to the island rebelled against colonial rule.

After years of domination by the United Kingdom, Antigua and Barbuda achieved independence as a single nation in 1981. Although Antigua covers only 108 square miles, it has a rich history and cultural traditions. Nelson’s Dockyard National Park offers archaeological sites and more than 12 miles of hiking trails. The 8th of March Project commemorates the lives of enslaved and free Africans who labored on the docks for centuries. Energetic hikers can make their way up a steep trail to Shirley Heights, 492 feet above sea level, to enjoy a panoramic view across the sea. Among Antigua’s unique attractions is the centuries-old artisan craft of forming tamarind seeds into jewelry and home

decor. The island is also home to one of the rarest fruits in the world, the Antigua black pineapple, which is sweet and delicious sliced fresh or in jelly form. Also, a weekly archaeological tour called “Rum in the Ruins” offers a history of the sugar trade and the island’s famous rum. Antigua’s Summer Carnival is one of the most popular in the world. The celebration began when people took to the streets in 1834 to celebrate the emancipation of enslaved people and independence from England. Visitors to the Carnival today can enjoy wildly colorful costumes and 10 days of music, dancing, and parades. Among the most memorable experiences are steel band competitions playing calypso and soca music.
