Quality & Safety Corner
Accreditation Results 2024 Thank you and congratulations to all Ryde Hospital staff on the successful accreditation assessment against the National Safety & Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, and the Clinical Care Standards and Advisories . The Assessors determined that all Standards were met, and no formal recommendations were issued. This is a very significant achievement and is a testament to the dedication and hard work of all staff. A draft report has been received, with a final report expected in early 2025. The final report will be made available to staff when received. The following are some statements from the draft Accreditation Assessment report. Ryde Hospital should be proud of its staff who are dedicated and committed and take pride in delivering passionate care despite the many challenges faced by the organisation through its redevelopment. Many examples of collaboration by the whole clinical team, patients, and families have been described and witnessed by the assessors. There is a strong culture of safety and quality across the Executive and staff of Ryde Hospital. Assessors visited all clinical areas at Ryde Hospital and observed communication between different staff members, and between staff and patients. Good processes were in place for undertaking clinical handovers, matching patients with procedures, recording information in the health record, communicating critical information, and providing discharge and transfer information. Patients interviewed across the hospital reported they felt adequately engaged in and informed about their care. Observation of multidisciplinary team meetings and bedside handovers demonstrated to assessors that patients and their carers are active partners in the care planning process. Staff from all professional groups and disciplines interviewed by the assessors were able to articulate how multidisciplinary care works across the organisation. Assessors attended safety huddles, handovers, and meetings where members of the multidisciplinary team worked collaboratively in the planning and delivery of comprehensive care. The Ryde Hospital Executive and staff should be pleased with the outcome of this assessment and now have a sound foundation from which to further develop its safety and quality initiatives in preparation for the move into the new Ryde Hospital during the next assessment cycle.
