Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Laverton, Leonora, Menzies, Ngaanyatjarraku and Ravensthorpe. The region has a long, rich association with gold mining, being the premier producer for the state. Energy metals like nickel and rare earth also feature with strong production and healthy reserves. Agriculture and gold-related tourism are also strong contributors to the region’s economy, as well as fishing and aquaculture along the coastlines of Esperance and Ravensthorpe. Aboriginal Enterprises The Goldfields has a strong track record of Aboriginal empowerment through the requirement to gain a social licence for the many resources projects that power the regional economy. The initial phase of establishing trusts and financial resources is increasingly transitioning to investments and capacity development in support of Aboriginal enterprises. There is a significant opportunity for investors to partner in Aboriginal controlled joint ventures across a diversity of industries, including agriculture, construction, tourism and energy to provide ready vehicles for social licence investments by future industry and infrastructure projects – public and private.
