Accommodation Worker accommodation for the wider service sector (often seasonal, transient, and lower paid positions) tends to fall through the gap as bigger corporations distort the private housing market as these projects come online. Broome and Kununurra have been very susceptible to boom bust cycles over many decades. As a case study, the Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley (SWEK) and MG Corporation (Aboriginal Corporation) are looking to develop a worker accommodation project with some similarities to Karratha’s Warambie service worker accommodation model. It is important to note that MG Corporation have a building arm to their organisation and an MOU with SWEK. There is intention that the timing and nature of builds would support capacity building for MG Corp while boosting skills development and sustainable jobs outcomes for local aboriginal people.
