BIRD CAGE II
by Charlize Janeth T. Alvarez
After some time of being alone I looked around and beyond the iron bars And I felt the wind, it felt like home I heard faint hums along the sound of guitars I saw the leaves and my fellows on the sturdy tree Then I smelled the salty air of the sea
I can no longer convince myself that it’s alright To build my walls too high to climb ‘Cause it’s only when the stars are bright That I can ask the sky if it’s not a crime To depend on another’s wings, and I should have known That, after all, I was never even alone.
