SECONDARY VISUAL ART

YEAR 7

YEAR 9 Year 9 students explored three - dimensional art. They learnt different techniques to manipulate paper mediums and started building skills to create 3D illusion drawings and paper installations. Students gained a deeper understanding of ways to manipulate paper medium in creating a Paper Playground or facial features for Mask Making, and explored ways to use foreshortening, vanishing points, and linear perspective to create the illusion of depth and dimensionality on a flat plane when drawing 3D illusions.

Year 7 students were introduced to accurate ways to use watercolour as a medium, as it is one of the hardest mediums to use in Visual Art, and requires planning steps before attempting to apply the paint. Students learnt about the traditional approach to building up a subject in watercolour by working from light to dark, and to do that they learnt about gradation and overlaying of colours and using coffee consistency of the watercolour pigment for their landscape foregrounds. They developed their understanding of flow of watercolour when gradating in planning their background.
