YEAR 10

Year 10 students expressed their competence and understanding on how distinguishing planes, and creating within them, as a strategy to create an illusion of dimension on a flat surface. Students identified and observed planes of a sculpted head, and then worked as a team to create one Planar head. They learnt that these planes help create dimension and explored different ways to transfer observed items in line with correct proportion onto paper. They practiced measuring, informed sighting and a grid method to draw a fair representation of a still life and portraits. This learning went above understanding that a box has six sides – a front, a back, two sides, a top and a bottom, as they explored their own ability and competence in being aware of planes of the face and how their values shift depending on the position of the light source.
