Inspire 2024

ATTITUDES TO SCHOOL, DISCOVERY INTERVIEWS & STUDENT VOICE Part of our plan to build Learner Agency and Engagement at The Lakes is to give our students from Prep - 12 the opportunity to regularly share feedback about their learning experience and work collaboratively with staff to build a positive and successful learning environment for all. Throughout this year, students completed Discovery Interviews to obtain important feedback about their learning experience. Survey questions were based around the following: the introduction of new partition walls; learning tasks; what we are doing well as a school; areas we can improve on; what students believe good schools do; ideas and suggestions to improve student engagement; and, suggestions on how we as a school can improve students’ overall learning experience. Following this, a selected group of student leaders from Years 7 - 12 worked with the Learner Agency and Engagement Team to collate all the feedback and

present the results to all staff. Student leaders also conducted specific workshops with small groups of staff. These workshops provided a great avenue for staff and students to work collaboratively, and explore areas for improvement and possible solutions to enhance the learning experience for everyone at The Lakes.

Students from Years 4 - 12 also completed the Attitudes to School Survey this year with a 93% response rate. There were some outstanding results for The Lakes, as we achieved results that were above the State in many areas including: having an advocate at school; sense of connectedness; voice and agency; high expectations; goal setting; differentiated learning; effective teaching time; stimulated learning; effective classroom behaviour; and, help seeking. The Learner Agency and Engagement Team looks forward to continuing to work with our students, parents/carers and staff to further improve their learning experience and provide an avenue for students to have a voice and positively impact their experience at the College.
