Great Expectations in Year Eleven

YEAR ELEVEN

SEMESTER ONE Literacy & Numeracy: Literacy and Numeracy have been central components of the Year 11 curriculum, aiming to develop students' communication, analytical, and problem - solving skills. The focus has been on enhancing writing, reading comprehension, and mathematical reasoning to support academic success across all subjects. During our area of study focusing on argument analysis, we undertook a task in which we were surveyed to determine the stance on where our political ideologies lie as a class to assist us in creating our contentions and establishing frameworks through which to analyze other’s contentions. - Jesse, Bailey & Jorja

YEAR ELEVEN SRC REFLECTION

Peer Mentoring: In a Term 2 volleyball activity, our Year 11 students demonstrated exceptional leadership by teaming up with Year 7 students for a session of engaging sportsmanship and skill - building. This collaborative activity not only highlighted the older students' mentorship but also fostered a sense of community and connectedness between different year levels within our College.

Our Year 11 VCE experience was a blend of growth, challenge, and discovery. Stepping into VCE, we felt the weight of increased expectations, both academically and personally. Certain subjects demanded more critical thinking and a deeper level of understanding. Time management became crucial as we balanced schoolwork, extracurricular activities, and maintaining a social life. At first, it was overwhelming, but we gradually learned how to prioritise tasks and focus on what was most important. One of the most valuable aspects of Year 11 was discovering our strengths and areas for improvement. The year also helped solidify goals for Year 12 and beyond, giving a clearer sense of direction in terms of career and personal aspirations. Overall, Year 11 was a year of significant academic and personal development, setting the foundation for our final year of VCE. - Josh and Anhad

Exams: The Semester 1 exams provided an opportunity for students to demonstrate their understanding and skills gained throughout the semester. These assessments aimed to prepare students for future academic challenges and helped identify areas for growth and improvement. I found the Semester one exam period to have benefitted me by allowing me to work in a time constricted environment, better allowing me to prepare for my Year 12 exams. Also leading up to the exams I was able to broaden my studying techniques to better help me prepare . - Josh D

Grand Prix: Secondary students from Year 10 - 12 had a blast at the Grand Prix in Term 1.
