Once a private venture, Alexandra Palace is now an iconic entertainment and sports venue, so to have it on the doorstep is an attractive invitation to the area. In 1900, the owners planned to sell it – and Alexandra Park – for development.Thankfully, a group of neighbouring local authorities managed to acquire them and an Act of Parliament created the Alexandra Palace and Park Trust, which requires the trustees (now the London Borough of Haringey) to maintain the building and the park, and make them available for the free use and recreation of the public forever. In the winter months you can enjoy ice skating or watching ice hockey and, come summer, the boating lake and pitch and putt are the places to be.You can now even summit the palace! If music is your jam, Alexandra Palace’s Outdoor Summer Season, including the Kaleidoscope Festival, boasts some incredible performers. Summer 2026 will see The Streets and Super Furry Animals perform, among others.
