Stratford is synonymous with shopping thanks to Westfield Stratford City, one of the biggest shopping centres in Europe and home to over 200 shops, from Abercrombie & Fitch to Zara, and everything in between! You will also find over 100 dining, food and drink options here, plus entertainment venues including All Star Lanes, a Vue cinema, and casino, so you may never want to leave! However, venture just across the road and you can continue to shop until you drop at the Stratford Centre, a long-standing indoor shopping centre and market space offering a more traditional high street experience and a stronger community feel. You can find even more variety scattered across the town, with plenty of independent shops, together making Stratford one of the most comprehensive shopping areas in the capital. There is plenty more to see and do around Stratford, and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is a great place to start. The park’s centrepiece, the London Stadium, is a great
Canary Wharf, London City airport, and the wider Docklands area. The Elizabeth Line also stops at Stratford station, and at Maryland station, also in Stratford town. Stratford and Stratford City bus stations make bus travel in and around the town easy and accessible too – the area is served by numerous bus routes (including night services), with buses to east and central London. National Express and Megabus also run coaches from Stratford City bus station to Stansted airport and beyond. Meanwhile, drivers benet from the town’s close proximity to the A12 and A13, offering easy access to the North Circular, M11 and central London, while cyclists can make use of the extensive cycle routes across the Olympic Park and surrounding areas. The population of Stratford has almost tripled since 2001 and is notably young, with an abundance of students, young professionals and new families enjoying the area’s impressive offerings. The area has a wide range of housing including terraces of period properties, but the area’s new developments – creating thousands of new homes – are particularly popular with rst time buyers.

Located six miles north east of Charing Cross, Stratford appears in records as early as 1067, when it was just a small rural area beside the River Lea. A familiar story, the arrival of the railway transformed the once sleepy settlement into a busy industrial hub. But Stratford’s real glow-up came in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, when it became one of the most signicant regeneration projects in UK history. The 2012 Olympic Games was the catalyst for a huge regeneration effort in the town, most notably the creation of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the huge Westeld Stratford City shopping complex. Given the level of investment into the area, it won’t come as a surprise that Stratford is also extremely well connected. One of the busiest stations in the UK, Stratford is a major interchange served by the London Underground (both Central and Jubilee lines), National Rail, London Overground, and the DLR, which conveniently connects Stratford to
