the room to bring it back to its original condition. I would like to thank the House and Social Committee for their work on this project, in particular Mrs. Maryann McBee, who has spent a lot of time volunteering on the project. I hope everyone likes the changes in the room, and that our corporate partners find utility in the new technology that we are incorporating into the project. Tom Lipscomb and his crew continue to hit curve balls as they ready the Oaks nine for its pending opening. As reported, there was a water line that burst on Oaks six. In typical fashion, Tom’s Crew quickly resolved the problem. This did push back the tentative opening date for the Oaks nine to April 4th. Springtime also brings our Club Events into full swing. Spring Break camps for Tennis and Golf, as well as our fun Easter Camp kick off the month of April. Our Easter Egg Hunt on April 8th and Easter Brunch on the 9th are always popular and may still have a few reservations available; call our reception desk to inquire.

Spring is upon us! One of the great things about the advent of spring is that April is one of the best sporting months of the year. Whether it’s the Masters, Final Four basketball finishing up, or the first few games of Major League Baseball’s regular season, there are many opportu- nities to come by the Grille and catch a game or two! After a competitive process, the Board of Governor’s selected an architectural firm for the Mixed Grille expansion project. Next steps will include the development of detailed drawings and specifi - cations, and taking care of a number of other preliminary items. It is really great to hear the excitement surrounding this project as I talk with members around the Club. The restoration of the Library room is now underway. As I mentioned at the annual meeting, our goal was to preserve the great features of the library, while restoring and enhancing elements of

Welcome Our Newest Members

Seven Oaks Book Club

The Seven Oaks Book Club meets each month to discuss books on a reading list which is selected by mutual consent of the Book Club members. All members of SOCC are invited to attend. Our selection for April… The Whalebone Theater by Joanna Quinn

Roancelly & Ashley Colegial, Roger & Tracy Coughenour, Gary & Cynthia Icardo, Ernesto & Leticia Lupercio, Sean & Jessica Reed, Samuel & Jessica Walker

One blustery night in 1928, a whale washes up on the shores of the English Channel. By law, it belongs to the King, but twelve-year-old orphan Cristabel Seagrave has other plans. She and the rest of the household - her sister, Flossie; her brother, Digby, long-awaited heir to Chilcombe manor; Maudie Kitcat, kitchen maid; Taras, visiting artist - build a theatre from the beast’s skeletal rib cage. Within the Whalebone Theatre, Cristabel can escape her feckless stepparents and brisk governesses, and her imagination comes to life.

As Cristabel grows into a headstrong young woman, World War II rears its head. She and Digby become British secret agents on separate missions in Nazi-occupied France - a more dangerous kind of playacting, it turns out, and one that threatens to tear the family apart. A TODAY SHOW #ReadWithJenna BOOK CLUB PICK • A transporting, irresistible debut novel that takes its heroine, Cristabel Seagrave, from a theatre made of whalebones to covert operations during World War II—a story of love, family, bravery, lost innocence, and self-transformation.

Our next meeting is Wednesday, April 26th at 11:30am

by Tom Lipscomb, Director of Argonomy

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Winter and is as anxious as I am for Spring to kick into gear! I want to take a second and invite all members to our first Divot Social. What the heck is a Divot Socail? I am glad that you asked! At a Divot Social, members join together and volunteer one hour of their time to help fill Fairway Divots with a little sand. This is a great opportunity for both old and new members to meet, develop new friendships and find new playing partners. Many prestigious clubs around the country have adopted a “take pride in your golf course” mentality and so I started this Divot Social at my last club and had great success. The Divot Fill part of the Social will start at 5:30pm sharp on Tuesday April 11th and will only last for one hour. Sometime around 6:30pm, we will all meet back at the Clubhouse for one hour to have a drink and some hors d’oeuvres to tame your appetite. So please, come join us, meet new golfing friends and show your pride in your Club by helping to make your Golf Course the best in the area.

Please reserve your spot no later than April 10th by either signing up at or calling the Golf Shop. THANK YOU in advance to all our volunteers - this truly does make a big difference.
