Seine Arbeiten – von Möbeln, Textilien und Leuchten bis zu Skulpturen, Bauten und Interieurs – haben Form, Farbe und Raum radikal neu definiert. 2026 würde Panton 100 Jahre alt. Die Ausstellung im Schaudepot des Vitra Design Museums präsentiert einen Teil seines Werkes chronologisch und thematisch, mit eigenen Kapiteln zu Schlüs- selobjekten wie dem Panton Chair (ca. 1956–1967) und der Visiona-II-Ausstellung (1970). Zugleich beleuchtet sie den historischen Kontext Pantons, von neuen Kunststoffen und Fertigungstechniken bis zu gesellschaftlichen Umbrüchen und der Faszination des Space Age. Das Vitra Design Museum verfügt über eine der bedeutendsten Verner-Panton-Sammlungen. Diese Bestände dienen als wichti- ge Quelle für Ausstellungen, Leihgaben und Publikationen, immer in Absprache mit Rechteinhaber Verner Panton Design AG. Höhepunkt der Ausstellung ist eine begehbare Rekonstruktion der legen- dären Fantasy Landscape von 1970. His work – from furni- ture, fabrics, and lamps to sculptures, buildings, and interiors – radically redefined form, colour, and space. In 2026, Panton would have turned 100. The exhibition at the Vitra Design Museum’s Schaude- pot presents a part of his work chronologically and thematically, with chapters dedicated to key creations such as the Panton Chair (c. 1956–1967) and the 1970 Visiona II installation. It also explores Panton’s historical context, from new materials and production techniques to postwar social changes and the Space Age. The Vitra Design Museum maintains one of the most important Verner Panton collections of Verner Panton designs. These holdings serve as a key resource for exhibitions, loans and publications all under approval by the owner of all rights Verner Panton Design AG. The highlight of the exhibition is a walk-in reconstruction of the legendary 1970 Fantasy Landscape.
