Outdoor Resort Palm Springs Security Gate Procedures for 911 Emergencies
Reason for this proposal Past emergencies have proven that 911 vehicles have difficulty finding locations within the Resort resulting in significant delays. The operational procedures are being proposed to assist emergency vehicles in locating emergency incidents within ORPS. This practice has been used throughout 911 systems such as the port of Los Angeles to assure patients get timely care. Proposed Procedures Scenario #1 The ORPS Security gate is not aware of the emergency prior to the arrival of emergency vehicles and as a result does not know where the emergency is.
Security Staff Procedures:
1. Security guard sees an emergency vehicle arriving at the ORPS Security gate. 2. Security guard opens the gate and secures it in the open position. 3. Security guard radios the officer on patrol and directs the patrol officer to return immediately to the Security gate to staff the gate. 4. The Security guard that was originally in the guard gate follows the emergency vehicle. 5. If it becomes obvious that the emergency vehicle is unable to locate the emergency, the guard following them can then ask what location they are trying to find, and escort them to the emergency. 6. Once the incident is complete, the guard following the emergency vehicle can take the emergency report. 7. Post Commander should request an NFIR’s (National Fire Incident Report) through the responding 911 agency.
