The participants shall:

Work in small groups to apply the principles behind the 'Prove-Test-Prove' method to verify absence of voltage using a calibrated HV Voltage Detector.

APPLYING HV ISOLATIONS AND EARTH

The aim of this lesson is to familiarise participants with the tools, equipment and methods for applying HV isolations and earth and to provide opportunities for them to practice using these safely in realistic exercise scenarios.

After having successfully completed this lesson, the participants can:

110) Perform HV isolations and earth safely using established procedures, and appropriate tools and PPE (Skills, intermediate level)

ELEMENT 13.1 - APPLYING HV ISOLATIONS AND EARTH

To achieve the lesson learning objectives, the participants can:

111) Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures correctly (Skills, intermediate level)

112) Perform Verification of Absence of Voltage correctly (Skills, intermediate level)

113) Recognise the purpose of interlocks as control for safe HV operations (Knowledge, basic level)

114) Perform earthing protocols and procedures correctly (Skills, intermediate level)

115) Apply appropriate Portable Earthing tools and equipment for safe HV working (Skills, intermediate level)

116) Explain risks and controls related to hazards from Stored Energies, Thermal, Chemical, Radiation, Inductance (Knowledge, intermediate level)

The instructor shall:

Explain and demonstrate control, communication and good practice when applying HV Isolations and Earth.
