For the purposes of the GWO HV standard, the term ‘Switching Person’ refers to the person designated to receive and perform actions under instructions from the SAP / HV Operating Authority, including taking responsibility for: - performing Switching, Isolation and Earthing of High Voltage Apparatus, Conductors and Systems as per an approved Switching Schedule / Sheet/Instruction - ensuring measures are implemented as specified in Switching Operations instructions for safe control of the activity and the work group, including proper communications and setup of barriers and signs. Verbal form used to indicate requirements strictly to be followed in order to conform to this training standard and from which no deviation is permitted. Verbal form used to indicate that among several possibilities one is recommended as particularly suitable, without mentioning or excluding others, or that a certain course of action is preferred but not necessarily required. A pre-task safety briefing that takes place at the work site, covering the risks, hazards, control and methods of the task being performed.
