Resources Managed / Facts and Figures:

Internal and external resource, comprising; Internal Project Manager’s, Internal Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Internal Clerks of Work, Internal Health & Safety staff, Internal Administration staff and specialist external professional service providers.

Total value of contracts to be managed: potentially in excess of £50 million.

Number of contracts managed – typically 2-5.

Internal and External Relationships:

Head of University Departments, junior to senior level colleagues, academic and administrative colleagues on daily basis.

External/Internal professional service providers (consultants); Project Managers, designers, and contractors, on a daily basis.

Contribute to University Committees when appropriate.

Local Authority/Statutory bodies to ensure compliance.

Planning and Organising:

Responsible for the effieicntly managing the post holders allocated workload, including junior supporting members of staff where allocated.

Competently monitor and review assigned work(s) to project team members (internal and external) under your control, checking deliverables are adequately completed.

Responsible for idenifying, with the Head of Programme and/or Senior Project Manager, and completing the post holders development training needs.

The role requires full management of multiple projects of significant financial value and complexity in various locations throughout the university estate; demanding extensive short and long-term planning, organisation and programming; requiring the post holder to have analytical ability, be reliable and thorough throughout the life cycle of the projects under their control.

Detailed understanding of the project development process, project management and construction methodologies will be essential.
