Resources managed Day to day oversight of the maintenance department budget (£800k) and capital expenditure project budgets (up to £3m) to support the Estates and Operations Director with wider budget management.
Role purpose Responsible to the Estates and Operations Director for the day to day management of planned and reactive maintenance work and building projects including programme and budgetary supervision. Line manages the maintenance staff in the Maintenance Department and supervises a range of external contractors.
Main duties and responsibilities
1 Reactive and Emergency Maintenance (15%) • Working with the Deputy Head of Buildings, responsible to the Estates and Operations Director for the oversight and delivery of a reactive and routine maintenance service for the fabric and equipment of the College and its associated buildings in and around Cambridge. The maintenance of services includes but is not limited to boiler plan and heating installations, electrical installations and fittings, plumbing/ heating and sanitary fittings and general repairs. • Evaluate and assess the effectiveness (including cost) of the delivery of routine maintenance, providing data to the Estates and Operations Director as required. • Organise and manage the delivery of an out-of-hours emergency maintenance support to meet College requirements, ensuring adequate cover is maintained and the requirement is fairly distributed amongst the team. Participate personally in the out-of-hours rota as required. 3 Planned Preventative Maintenance (15%) • Responsible for the planning and supervision of a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme working closely with the Deputy Head of Buildings. • Evaluate and asses the effectiveness (including cost) of the PPM programme, providing data to the Estates and Operations Director as required. 4 People management (15%) • Line manage the maintenance team and supervise and oversee the work of external contractors. 5 Project Management (25%) • Responsible to the Estates and Operations Director for the delivery of capital expenditure projects ensuring these are delivered to time and budget.
