Mandarin Club Years 3-6

Premier Strings Years 3-6

Rockshop Years 5-6 (Invitation only)

This club is for children from Year 3 to Year 6 and will provide children with the opportunity to learn a language spoken by more than a quarter of the world’s population. Within the weekly school sessions, the children will learn basic daily greetings, to read and write Chinese characters, in addition to studying the customs and festivities associated with Chinese culture. It is musical and fun for children, particularly when taught through songs and rhymes, and through Chinese calligraphy (brush writing). There is an additional charge for this club of £18 per session, payable directly to Mrs Cole.

This ensemble is a natural progression on from String Ensemble. The musicians in this group have started to develop good musical awareness and listening skills. It is available to all pupils who are approximately Grade 2 standard and above. We play a wide range of styles of music from popular songs and film music to more classical repertoire. They will rehearse once a week and perform in a number of concerts throughout the year including the Christmas Concert and the Summer Concerts.

Rockshop is open to pupils who learn either the electric guitar or the drums in or out of school. The club is taken by our electric guitar teacher. Pupils are taught to develop their ensemble skills and learn to play pop songs. Please contact Mrs Ault for more information.
